Canadian Music Week Presents:

On Thursday May 8th, 2014; Arizona’s Kongos made their way to the Opera House in Toronto with support from Dear Rouge and Zerbin. The house was packed and fans went full out dancing and singing along to each band.

The first band to take the stage was Edmonton’s indie rockers Zerbin. These guys made for a pretty tame and easy to listen to opener as fans continued to flow through the building.

Up next, the time came for Vancouver rockers Dear Rouge to hit the stage. This female fronted alternative act brings 80’s new wave influences and combines them with modernized synthetic vibes.

Dear Rouge had the energy flowing throughout the entire venue as they threw themselves around the stage. Vocalist Danielle McTaggart had fun with her performance and had the eyes of on lookers glued to her.

Finally, after the venue filled and the crowd cheered them on stage, the time came for Kongos to take over. Opening up with “Hey I Don’t Know” off of their latest release Lunatic, fans warmed up instantly and the upbeat vibes were flowing.

Kongos performance was powerful, the accordian added the perfect mood while the drums added the intensity. You can definitely tell that they are influenced from their South African roots. These guys make so a definite must see live band.
