PHOTOS+REVIEW: JOURNEY w/ STEVE MILLER BAND | Molson Canadian Amphitheatre

Presented by Live Nation: On June 19th, 2014; thousands of people came from all over the Greater Toronto Area to enjoy a nostalgic flash from the past as Journey took over the Molson Canadian Amphitheater with support from the Steve Miller Band and Tower of Power. Fans of all generations danced and sang their way through an evening that will be remembered by all.

Tower of Power were the first to show fans some love. They were later referred to as “the band with the perfect pitch” by Steve Miller himself. Their incredible rhythm and high levels of energy had guests dancing their way to their seats as they walked into the venue.

As fans continued to flood to their seats and the beers kept flowing, the time came for the Steve Miller Band to take the reigns. The curtain dropped, revealing an epic display of rockers among the stars as fans cheered them on.

The Steve Miller Band played all of their fan favorites, including; “Take The Money and Run”, “Abracadabra”, “Living in the USA”, “Space Cowboy”, “Nobody Loves You Like The Way I Do”, “Shu Ba Da Du Ma Ma Ma” , “The Joker”, “Swingtown”, “Rock’n Me”, “Jet Airliner” and an encore with “Fly Like an Eagle”.

They told fans how thrilled they were to bring back that old-school San Francisco vibe from the 60’s. Everything about their performance was engaging and true to the era they came from. Lets keep in mind that these guys are in their 70’s and still living and performing like a year hasn’t gone by, vocalist Sonny Charles didn’t hesitate to bust a move, while the entire band sounded like they were original vinyl playing at the front of the stage.

Finally as the sun set, the time came for Journey to send Toronto through the remainder of the already incredible show. Fans screamed their names and ladies fought for the attention from the band.

Journey’s live performances may come with much speculation nowadays (circa 2008) when the position as lead vocalist (originally Steve Perry) was taken over by Arnel Pineda. With that being said, it’s safe to say that Pineda delivers. The fans love him and the power and confidence in his voice allow him to sing each song the way it was meant to be sung.

Journey rocked! Through amazing instrument solos and perfect stage production, they provided the ultimate concert experiance.  Fans heard everything they wanted to hear, and took “Don’t Stop Believin'” from the karaoke bar to an incredible coming-together sing-a-long among thousands of newly acquainted strangers.
