Hell yes! The time has come for the post-hardcore leaders of the Durham Region scene to share their brand new album Exhale with the world. This release marks a follow-up from their debut EP Inhale, and it clearly illustrates a rise in the band’s development and sound as they’ve matured with a powerful story to tell.
Lungless (formerly Constellations) have worked collectively since the mid-twenty year olds were in high school. Having spent their teen years heavily involved in the local scene, as well as allowing themselves to be influenced by the latest nu-metal / hardcore albums; the result of their sound is a refined mix of everything a 90’s born heavy music connoisseur would want to hear.
Having hit the studio with producer/engineer Todd Barriage of Borland Studios, Lungless managed to capture the perfect inflection and resonance to match the message Exhale shares through it lyrics.
Stand-out tracks: “Ark”, “Exhale”. Exhale’s name and emotion stays true to being a follow-up album to Inhale. “Ark” carries out a resemblance to the stand out lyrics in Inhale’s “Glass” that say: “I’m such an ugly man, all bones and no skin”. “Ark” counters by sharing a new and equally as profound message saying,”I am just a name, that’s written into the sand”. As for the title track “Exhale”, it carries on the feel by saying, “I’ve said it once, and I’ll say it again. I am an ugly man”. (y’all really aren’t that bad looking, you know).
All in all, Exhale takes you on an emotional whirlwind where you find yourself entering the world of a remorseful and hollow internal-struggle. While it is dark and hair-raising, you can still see and very much feel that glimmer of light and hope at the end of the ride. Although Lungless are releasing this album for free, we all know how nice it is to be given financial recognition for your hard work, so let’s see you donate to the band here.
