Wednesday, August 14th wasn’t just an ordinary summer night; a full moon was rising over Budweiser Stage in Toronto, as Korn, Alice In Chains, Underoath and H09909 played to a nearly sold out crowd.

Alice In Chains have been busy touring in support of their 2018 release, Rainier Fog, and are approaching the end of their tour cycle nearly a year after the album’s release. The band kicked things off with the one-two punch of “Angry Chair” and “Man In A Box”. Later in the show, lead guitarist Jerry Cantrell invited their old friend Dallas Green (City And Colour) onstage. Green, who toured North America with the band earlier this year, joined them to perform “Nutshell” from the acoustic 1994 release, Jar Of Flies. The band’s set also included heavy staples like “Them Bones”, “Would?” and “Rooster”, which was dedicated to those who have served our country. Korn is gearing up to release their new album The Nothing on September 13th, which will be their first release in three years.

Korn’s light show and stage setup has never disappointed over the span of their 25 year career, and it was obvious that they wanted to push it even further this time around. The band’s performance was full of tempo changes and dynamic song choices, which included their lullaby sing-a-long “Shoots and Ladders” that began with singer Jonathan Davis sporting a kilt and playing the bagpipes and concluded with the band breaking into Metallica’s machine-gun bridge from the song “One”. They also played “Coming Undone” (which will now be stuck in my head for at least a week), incorporating Queen’s “We Will Rock You” into the second verse of the song, which really made the crowd go wild. Ending the night with their mega hit “Falling Away From Me”, you could clearly see the band had exhausted all their energy into the entire set.
