CONCERT COVERAGE: THE DISTILLERS | Phoenix Concert Theatre

The first time I heard “Drain the Blood” I was instantly hooked. The raspy, aggressive, punch you in the face vocals from Brody Dalle was exactly what was missing in my current music rotation. She In my opinion was the next Joan Jett. When I heard the Distillers announced a 2019 tour, reunion of sorts… That was marked important in my musical calendar.

Selling out two nights at the Phoenix Concert Theatre in Toronto was no shock. It proved how much she’s been missed and also seeing how much of an influence /role model she’s been to women and men was quite amazing. Capacity for both nights, sweaty, gross but loving every second of each night was exactly what happened. Nights people will not soon forget. Seeing Brody rip the stage up like they haven’t taken a break and crushing a 22 song set like it was nothing was beyond impressive. The vocals were flawless, the attitude hasn’t changed and the show got better and better as the night went on.

To see how much she’s loved in the punk scene and to really see and feel how much she’s been missed was truly unbelievable. Two amazing nights of music in so many ways! Let’s hope this becomes a regular thing again because punk hasn’t been the same without her.
