CONCERT COVERAGE: THE INTERRUPTERS in Toronto, ON

PHOTOGRAPHY/REVIEW BY MICHAEL AMARAL

The Interrupters rolled into Toronto on Devil’s Night with their “Fight the Good Fight” Canadian tour, featuring openers Skinny Lister and Sharp/Shock.

LA’s Sharp/Shock opened the night, and their Southern California vibes mixed with punk and rock got fans moving on the dance floor.

Skinny Lister was a six piece folk punk band hailing from the UK. Their set was filled with sing-a-long ballads and lots of crowd participation. I couldn’t help but clap and stomp my feet for their entire set.

As for the main event, The Interrupters are as fiery on the stage as they are on the radio, bringing ska punk back to a mainstream audience after what seems like forever. Leading the charge is a smiling Aimée Allen and the three Bivona brothers, Kevin, Jesse and Justin.

The band looked like they were having a blast onstage, playing to what appeared to be a sold out show at Rebel Nightclub. It didn’t take Aimée very long to get the crowd involved for songs like “Take Back The Power”, “Title Holder” and their new Billie Eilish cover, “Bad Guy”… Duh!

In addition to a full set with all the radio hit and tons of deep cuts, Kevin teased the crowd with a short version of Bryan Adams’ “Summer Of 69”, a Canadian staple. It looks like The Interrupters aren’t wasting any time offstage. They will be on tour most of 2020 with Green Day, Fall Out Boy and Weezer in a stadium near you!
